After a nice breakfast at a table overlooking the fjord, we left to experience another dose of nature at its best ... more fjords, more lakes, more waterfalls, more switchbacks, more ferries, more tunnels, more quaint towns, more perfect weather ... am I in heaven?
We made it to Alesund around noon not knowing what to expect ... we soon discovered Alesund is called "the most beautiful town in Norway."
After checking in at our very cool Scandinavian decorated hotel in a building built in 1904, we set out to explore the city and find a place for lunch ... we sat at an outdoor table at Cinque Minuti, a nice restaurant and bakery, on a pedestrian-only street hosting some sort of cultural fair with food trucks with food from all over the world ... including tacos and churros! ... but I had an Eclair instead : )
The whole group is back together after exploring different areas surrounding Alesund. In the afternoon, we climbed 400+ steps to the highest viewpoint in the city to get a sense of where we were and the islands around us. Indeed an archipelago with islands everywhere, bridges, tunnels, and ferries connecting them all somehow.
We all had a nice sushi dinner together at one of the few restaurants open on Sunday.
Tomorrow, we are going to what Top Gear has called one of the most beautiful roads in the world.
Breakfast at our very nice hotel in Geiranger where we got the last room
And we got the table with the best view : )
