Day 3 - The Core of Kristiania

Before become Oslo, Oslo was Kristiania until 1925 but the city was actually founded in the year 1040!

After a great breakfast at the hotel in an amazing art deco great room, we headed to the BMW dealership to pick up our motorcycles. A bit far (120 km) but an interesting ride ... in the intermittent rain.

Finally got to meet Terje who has been our contact from the time we started planning this trip. Our bikes were ready and after a briefing on Norwegian driving etiquette and insurance details, we headed out.

We rode through intermittent rain back to Oslo through a lot of tunnels through rocky mountains or covered with grass to provide passage for wild life. Even though it is Monday, everything still feels a bit empty ... underpopulated.

Back in town, we went on an 8km walk around town to visit all the key sights … the Royal Palace (amazing gardens), the Norwegian Parliament, the Oslo Cathedral, down the Karl-Johans pedestrian street all the way to the Central Train Station, the National Theater, the Opera House by the harbor, and the Munch Museum ... strange art!

Finished having tapas for a late lunch and headed back to the hotel to start packing and to start getting the motorcycles ready for tomorrow’s departure.

After a nice sauna and cold plunge : ), the entire group got together for the first time to talk about the trip, protocols, route, Norwegian stuff, etc. ... amazing the group finally came together after flying from or through Boston, Dallas, Frankfurt, Paris, London and Andy riding from Frankfurt to Copenhagen to Goteborg to Oslo ... Wow!

Tomorrow, we head East to Vradal and into Norway's innards.
