Day 1-2: The Long Way There

We did it. Only one checked baggage with all our motorcycle gear and two helmets in our hands. Our flights today were uneventful and largely on time. A great night of sleep after a nice dinner onboard, a straightforward but complicated transfer in Heathrow, and a nice flight to Oslo.

It is always amazing to me how big an Airbus A380 is … the logistical challenge to load and unload so many people on two floors … and the feeling of wonder when you smoothly take off and land a massive engineering marvel of that size. Pretty cool.

Upon landing in Oslo, we took the train from the airport into town … another great engineering feat … quit, smooth, comfortable, and painless … it dropped us half a block from our hotel … so civilized.

The city seems a bit empty being Sunday and cloudy except for all the big outdoor screens around town getting ready for the UEFA European Final (Spain vs England) ... a great 2-1 game for another win for Spain.  Lots of restaurants and shopping by the water. We had a nice dinner and headed to bed to continue to process the jet lag.
