After some rain the night before and a great breakfast, we left from the indoor parking lot inside our hotel and headed to Runde ... which required jumping from island to island on bridges, causeways, and ferries to get there.
A great chilly morning, but dry ... our first ferry crossing was very zen ... very few people on board ... gray but clearing skies ... beautiful views of the islands in the Alesund Archipelago ... and a very quiet, and big, electric ferry boat!
We rode around the edge of the water ... waterfalls and towns here and there ... until we ended up riding on some curving causeways and curving one-lane bridges until we made it the very end of the road in Runde ... and the sun was out in full force ... just like we ordered it for this "princess package" ride : )
After a few pictures and touching the North Sea (not as cold as expected) we headed to lunch and back to Alesund to rest.
It is so nice to be able to share these experiences with Pam ... enjoying the views, nature at its best, the being-one with the motorcycle as we go through endless turns and hill climbs and descents ... visiting one of a kind places not easily reachable any other way ... eating great food in incredible settings ... this is what makes traveling on a motorcycle so special ... so organic : )
The rest of the day was very chilled ... walked around new areas of town ... the main church ... the building occupied by the Gestapo during the Nazi occupation ... a big Norwegian style building that is now a school and that was bombed by the Nazis in 1940 and the allied forces in 1945.
Had a great dinner at the restaurant at the hotel and called it a day.
Tomorrow, we are going to the famous Trollstigger to see the switchbacks in and out of the fjord.
